This position is responsible for successfully leading, administering, and managing operations of a 128,000-square-foot indoor sports complex.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops a strong customer service, recruitment and contract program for facility usage   that generates out-of-town bookings for tournaments and all nature of events suitable to     the facility which could include but not limited to: Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball, Flag Football, Cheerleading, Dance, Band Competitions, etc..

Oversees the coordination of events with local and regional leagues, along with individual and/or team sports training programs.

Oversees the coordination of events with sport/recreational-related programs and events as appropriate in coordination with other Parks and Recreation programs.

Oversees and coordinates staff training and development; recruits, hires, trains and evaluates staff.

Directs and performs efficient facility operations management including concessions, merchandising, event setup/breakdown, scheduling staff, and facility maintenance operations. Provides for the safety and enjoyment of all users and patrons.

Prepares budgeting for revenue and expenditures; executes and oversees efficient  bidding, evaluating, sponsorship procurement, productivity analysis, and procurement responsibilities.

Plans and oversees the development of capital improvement projects for the facility that   may range from minor to major facility projects; this includes preventative maintenance, renovations and/or repairs. Ensures that the facility is in excellent condition and safe for patrons and staff.

Oversees administrative projects assigned by the General Director of Parks and Recreation. Prepares reports and coordinates projects for the Parks and Recreation  Commission.

Plans, develops, and recommends long-range plans for the facility, program, and the department.

Reviews, revises and recommends facility and department policies and procedures.

Assists in planning and coordinating city-wide parks and recreational special events.

Responds to after-hours calls as needed.

Schedules, supervises and evaluates full-time, part-time, seasonal, and volunteer staff.

Maintains records of receipts and disbursements of payments for contractual employees;   performs necessary bookkeeping.

Researches new programs to generate revenue for the department.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

1) Bachelor’s Degree in sports management, recreation, or closely related field with 3 – 5 years of experience in the profession. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. 2) Certified Parks and Recreation Professional or related certification is desired.
